Bret’s practice is focused on preparation and prosecution of patents and trademarks.  He enjoys collaborating with clients to find ways to resolve issues and benefit the clients.  Bret’s technical experience includes wireless communication, RF filters, chip design, image editing, productivity tools, VR and AR imaging and hardware, battery design, power efficiency software, solar energy, medical devices, carbon nanotube technologies, and acoustics.

Bret earned a B.S. in Applied Physics from Brigham Young University.  While completing his degree, he studied fabrication and use of carbon nanotubes for application to batteries. Bret also enjoyed taking business management classes, which is apparent in his ability to step back and assess value in his clients’ intellectual property.

Following his graduation from Brigham Young University Law School in 2013, Bret began his legal career with a specialty in IP litigation.  This experience influences every patent that he drafts or prosecutes – so that clients have the ability to protect their hard-earned innovations.  He now focuses on patent and trademark preparation and prosecution along with prelitigation analysis and opinions.

Mr. Tingey is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He is also admitted to practice law in Utah.
